ICE Trice Product Update
New Models
XXL
Based
on the popular XL, the XXL is designed for the
rider that is looking for the performance of the
Micro in a larger machine with 20" wheels
and more ground clearance. Intended for fast touring
and day rides, the XXL is built with a narrow
track, racing tyres, and our high-performance
composite seat as standard equipment. Like the
Micro, the XXL has all the elements of speed and
performance that make it ideal for racing, but
with the superb handling and enhanced load carrying
capability that's perfect for everyday use.
Monster
The same width
and height as a Micro, lower than a Classic, and
longer than any other Trice, the Monster sets
a new standard for fast trikes. With it's free-rolling
26 inch rear wheel, the Monster is intended for
laid-back fast touring, audax, or racing. Sporting
the same high performance composite seat as the
Micro, it climbs well and is stable and sure on
high-speed descents. The 26 inch rear wheel allows
a good range of gears and an efficient drivetrain
using only standard derailleur components.
Pixie
This compact
trike is designed specially for the smaller rider.
The 20 inch rear wheel allows a good range of
gears and full sized racks for good luggage capacity.
The 18 inch front wheels and narrow track give
the Pixie it's compact size and good turning circle.
The mesh seat is comfortable for a trip to the
shops or long distance touring. The Pixie comes
with a lightweight frame and short 152mm cranks
as standard, both of which help the smaller rider
get the most from this trike.
Other changes
- Reduced starting
prices on Micro
and Mini.
Both these
models are now offered with a range of transmission
component options. This means the starting price
is reduced (and the component weight) for those
that may not require the high range of gears
achieved by the Schlumpf Speed Drive option
or the addition of a SRAM Dual Drive Hub.
An alternative hard shell composite seat has
been introduced which has significantly reduced
manufacturing cost. This alternative seat has
all of the same performance features of the
Carbon Composite seat such as the body hugging
shape (it comes from the same original mould
plugs as the Carbon composite seat!). It also
has the same forced air ventilation feature
and the same seat covers. The Carbon composite
seat is still available as a lighter weight
optional upgrade.
- Change to Clark's
mechanical disc brakes as standard
Disc brake
supply problems at the end of 2002 led us to
examine other disc brakes on the market and
we are now fitting Clark's brakes as standard.
These are readily available and are international
standard fitting. In use, they have proven to
offer a good level of braking power, are easy
to setup and adjust and they have the advantage
of being very light in weight. They are also
available at a relatively good price which has
helped us to maintain prices for this season.
Upgrades are now offered for Shimano Deore mechanical,
Avid mechanical and Hope Hydraulic - all international
standard ("rear").
- Lighter weights
All standard
specification trikes with standard component
options are lighter in weight.
- New Marathon
Slick tyre now introduced
The marathon
slick with kevlar belt, dual compound and reflective
side wall is now used as standard on the front
of the XL and all round on the Classic.
- New Gear specifications
We have
tried to simplify the gear
options we offer and now also show a straight
forward component upgrade for each option. The
new Shimano Capreo 9-26 cassette which we have
tested allows some interesting all derailleur
setups on the 18" and 20" wheeled
trikes (available from March 2003).
- Expedition and
X2 Tandem changes
Shimano
Deore mechanical disc brakes now standard on
the front and a Deore mechanical disc drag brake
/ parking brake on the rear. Upgradeable to
Avid all round or Hope hydraulic front with
Avid mechanical rear.
