Why a 26" rear wheel ?
Big back wheels on Trice have been around since 1990 and have always had a dedicated following. The more conventional MTB wheel size integrates easily with industry standard cycle components giving an economic route to a good range of gears. Ride quality over a non-suspended small wheeled trike is improved. Rolling resistance of larger wheels is generally agreed to be better though we have not proven this ourselves. One thing is for sure, It certainly looks fast!
The other big advantage is the lower starting price for the Q 26 due to the simplified non-suspended and non-folding rear frame. Cost is also reduced when it comes to adding a rear carrier for luggage capacity as the rack we offer is a simple standard unit designed for use on diamond frame bikes.
How Wide is it?
The Trice Q 26 is available in two track widths. Standard track is 31” (795 mm) wide, and narrow track is 27” (695 mm) wide. Standard track gives you loads of stability so you can really have some fun in the corners without worrying about shifting your weight. Narrow track sacrifices some of this stability to make it easier to get between bollards or through doorways.
Which ever width you choose, it will come painted in sparkling Red or Blue, or Gloss Black. This machine is a real head turner.
Sport or recreation?
The Trice Q comes as standard with our ultra-cool and comfortable mesh seat, but if performance is what you crave you may like to spec your Trice Q with the optional hard shell seat. Turning your Q into an ultra fast trike, with the hard shell seat installed there is a massive 16 degrees of adjustment available for the seat angle (28-44˚). To maximize the aerodynamic advantage of recumbents you need to lie back. The hard shell seat allows you to do this more so than the mesh seat. If you want to go very fast you also need a solid platform for efficient power production and the hard shell seat does this best. The contoured shape is also enhanced by a unique set of lower body side supports(Love Handles!) made by ICE to improve cornering performance.
How do I store it or transport it?
Though the 26" rear frame does not fold, the seat can still be quickly removed, as can the rear wheel and rear mudguard if fitted. The additional QR kit can also be fitted to give tool-less removal of the front wheels, front mudguards, sliding of the front boom and folding down of the handle bars. The result is a trike that can still be made to fit inside most cars with the rear seats folded.
The rear frame section is removable and so for the more serious trip the trike can be fully split down for the most compact package.
