Subject: Ice Q
Picture - Winter boots on
Hi all,
Just a quick
note to say I’ve come through my first
winter commuting on the ‘Q’
and never had to miss a day. The ‘Q
has proved to be an excellent buy for my
daily 20 mile round trip, mostly on unlit
country roads.
Like many
first time trike riders I was initially
worried about being seen while being so
low down but (touch wood) I have found that
so far, cars give me a wide berth, so much
so, that I have seen several very near misses
when cars overtake me in the opposite lane
and into the path of an approaching car.
An example of Dawinism no doubt.
The picture
below shows the ‘Q’ locked up
a work with:
Light mount:
part of an old bike carrier puts the lights
nice and high.
Big Swalbe Tyres: provide extra grip and
more importantly, a good deal of puncture
protection although to get the necessary
clearance I have had to mount the mudguards
on top of the brackets.
Bum Fairing: the most important addition
– a sheet of plastic in the bottom
of the seat that deflects wind and water
from where it is least wanted
