Avid Mechanical Disc Brakes - Fitted as standard on custom Trice
Well known and generally reviewed as one of the best mechanical disc brakes in the mountainbiking world. We find that on our trikes it has an excellent feel. The caliper adjustment is simple and can be easily adjusted for disc alignment. It also has red rotating knobs for pad clearance adjustment with no tools required.

The calipers are operated by Tektro RX2.0 brake levers which are very well suited for use on the Trice being well finished and light weight.

Sturmey Archer Mechanical Drum Brakes - Optional on Custom Trice
Sturmey Archer Drum brakes are extremely reliable and perform superbly on our trikes. These brakes don’t squeal in the rain and because they stay dry all the time they bite more quickly than discs on a wet day. They require very little maintenance - just an annual clean and some lube on the cable. The brake shoes have an amazingly long life compared to most other types of brakes and for many users they will never require replacement. There is no weight penalty compared with the average disc brake, and they are cleaner and safer than a rotating disc. On the Trice standard models a very handy parking brake button is included on both brake levers.

We like these brakes so much that we are happy to recommend them to custom Trice customers over the perhaps more trendy disc brakes.
